Uzbekistan Intends to Increase Gas Production
Uzbekistan's President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has instructed to develop a program for new deposits in 2025 Orda.kz reports, citing the Uzbek presidential press service.
He has also instructed to bring in large foreign companies and experts.
During a meeting dedicated to the current state and measures to increase gas production in the country, the Uzbekneftegaz Chair spoke about the main tasks for the coming year.
The industry's main problem is the lack of attention to geological exploration over many years. As a result, some deposits have almost exhausted their reserves, while the efficiency of others remains low.
Several projects involving foreign companies are currently underway. The plans include drilling new wells and repairing existing production wells using modern technologies.
Geological exploration is planned to begin on 15 promising sites. The area of seismic exploration will be increased to 6.5 thousand square kilometers.
The transformation of Uzbekneftegaz will continue, with one of the main tasks being to reduce costs and improve the international credit rating. In 2025, it is planned to attract funds from international sources to finance production projects and geological exploration, the report says.
