Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with his Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Sybiha on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, Orda.kz reports.
The ministers discussed bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, education, and cultural exchange, as well as coordination within international organizations.
Saidov said the talks underscored both countries’ commitment to strengthening dialogue, expanding partnerships, and creating new opportunities for their peoples.
Sybiha emphasized that Kyiv and Tashkent had agreed to renew political dialogue and broaden cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels, stressing Ukraine’s interest in building stronger ties with Central Asia.
Meanwhile, Gazeta.uz reports that the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said political dialogue had never been suspended, though the last formal consultations took place in May 2021.
The previous ministerial-level meeting was held in October 2013 between Abdulaziz Kamilov and Leonid Kozhara.
