U.S.-Kazakhstan Talks in Washington Focus on Economy and Regional Issues

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a meeting with Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin, Orda.kz reports. The meeting was also attended by Kazakhstan’s Special Representative for Negotiations with the United States, Yerzhan Kazykhan.
According to the State Department, the sides discussed expanding economic ties and Kazakhstan’s role in regional initiatives. They also touched on the country’s participation in peacekeeping processes.
Washington also noted Astana’s active role in the C5+1 diplomatic platform and its contribution to developing cooperation in Central Asia.
The United States remains committed to supporting the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Kazakhstan and looks forward to further strengthening the strategic partnership. the statement said.
