The US Treasury Department unveiled major new sanctions against Russia on January 10, marking one of its most significant moves to date against the country's oil sector.
The sweeping measures target Russia's oil revenue streams, hitting major energy companies and more than 180 vessels involved in transporting Russian oil.
Key players like Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegaz and their subsidiaries are now under restrictions. This includes major facilities such as the Moscow and Omsk refineries and production units like Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz and Gazpromneft-Orenburg.
The sanctions also affect Gazprom Neft's international operations, including its presence in Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan), Serbia (NIS), and its Luxembourg-based international division.
