Republican Representative Thomas Massie has submitted a bill to Congress that calls for the United States to leave NATO, Orda.kz reports.
The draft law, filed as H.R. 6508, proposes terminating U.S. participation in the North Atlantic Alliance. Massie announced the initiative on X, writing:
NATO is a Cold War relic. The United States should withdraw from NATO and use that money to defend our country, not socialist countries.

The move comes shortly after the White House released a new National Security Strategy, which states that the period of uncontested U.S. leadership in shaping global order has ended and that allies must take on greater responsibility — including increased defense spending.
The document also notes that, in the coming decades, many NATO members may no longer be European, and stresses that the alliance should not be viewed as a bloc committed to endless expansion.
