Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal submitted his resignation on July 15, reports Orda.kz, citing UNIAN.
Shmyhal thanked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his trust and expressed appreciation to his team. His position will be taken over by Deputy Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.
According to UNIAN, Shmyhal’s resignation follows President Zelenskyy’s announcement of an upcoming restructuring of the country’s executive branch. The day before, Zelenskyy also stated that Shmyhal’s experience could be valuable in the role of Minister of Defense.
This suggests that the former prime Minister may soon head Ukraine’s defense ministry, as the country remains engaged in an ongoing military conflict with Russia.
