Ukrainian opposition leaders Poroshenko and Tymoshenko have acknowledged ongoing communications with Trump's administration but firmly denied discussing Ukrainian elections during these talks, Orda reports.
In her statement, former Prime Minister Tymoshenko confirmed her team is engaged in negotiations with "all allies who can help establish a fair peace quickly" while emphasizing that election discussions remain off the table until a comprehensive peace agreement is reached.
Similarly, former President Poroshenko described his engagement with American partners as "public and transparent," focused on maintaining bipartisan U.S. support.
He characterized these conversations as centered on "security above all else, and peace through force," reiterating his party's opposition to wartime elections.
These clarifications come in response to a Politico report alleging that Trump's inner circle was conducting negotiations with both opposition figures, specifically about holding presidential elections in Ukraine.
