Sources familiar with preparations for the talks in Saudi Arabia told the Financial Times that Kyiv plans to propose a partial ceasefire with Russia, Orda reports, citing The Financial Times.
The proposal would cover drone strikes, long-range missiles, and military activities in the Black Sea. Ukraine hopes this move will encourage Washington to reconsider suspending intelligence sharing and weapons deliveries.
Additionally, Reuters reports, citing American officials, that at the upcoming meeting, the US plans to determine whether Ukraine is "willing to make significant concessions" to Russia to end the war and whether it intends to improve relations with Donald Trump's administration.
Meanwhile, reports have surfaced that Donald Trump has privately indicated that signing a rare earth minerals agreement between Washington and Kyiv would be insufficient to resume aid and intelligence sharing.
Trump wants to see "something more" than just a mineral deal.
Specifically, he reportedly wants Ukraine to make concessions, including territorial ones, and Zelenskyy's willingness to hold elections and possibly step down as president, NBC reports, citing sources.
However, according to an American official and an administration representative, the US has "no indications" that the pause in intelligence sharing has directly influenced Russian attacks. They said these major attacks were likely planned "before the cessation of intelligence sharing and aid."
Both NBC sources stated they expect weapons and equipment deliveries and intelligence sharing might resume as early as next week, especially after Zelenskyy said Ukraine is "ready to sit at the negotiating table as soon as possible."
The US President previously stated that Washington has "almost" resumed intelligence sharing with Kyiv. He added that he expects good results from the upcoming talks with Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia.
Negotiations between US and Ukrainian representatives are scheduled for March 11 in Riyadh.
