On July 14, officers from Kazakhstan’s National Security Committee (KNB), together with Almaty police, detained two members of a criminal group suspected of kidnapping and killing a resident of Oskemen in May 2025, Orda.kz reports.
According to the KNB, the suspects had been wanted since June. A court has ordered them held in pretrial detention for two months, and they are currently in a temporary holding facility.
Authorities are also considering charges against an Almaty resident who, according to the investigation, knowingly sheltered the fugitives. Officials remind the public that harboring criminals is a prosecutable offense under Article 432 of Kazakhstan’s Criminal Code.
