During talks at the White House with Poland’s recently elected president, Karol Nawrocki, U.S. President Donald Trump assured that American forces would remain stationed in Poland and could even be reinforced if Warsaw requests it, Orda.kz reports, citing The Associated Press.
Trump emphasized the close ties between the two countries, noting that the United States is committed to Poland’s security. He added that Washington is prepared to send additional troops if Poland expresses such a need.
Currently, around 8,200 U.S. servicemen are deployed in the country.
For Nawrocki, who won the presidency last month with Trump’s backing, the trip to Washington marked his first foreign visit in office. Following the meeting, he described the assurances received from Trump as an important step for strengthening Poland’s defense.
Poland also approved its 2026 budget, allocating 200 billion zloty ($54.75 billion) for defense — equal to 4.8% of GDP, one of the highest levels among NATO members.
The discussions come at a time of heightened debate in Europe over the durability of U.S. security commitments.
