During his visit to Scotland, President Trump made a significant statement on the Ukraine conflict, expressing frustration with Vladimir Putin and indicating a shift in his diplomatic approach, Orda.kz reports, citing Reuters.
First, speaking to reporters about the war, Trump made clear his dissatisfaction and hinted at adjusting his previously announced deadline:
“I’m disappointed in President Putin… I’m going to reduce that 50 days that I gave him to a lesser number because I think I already know the answer what’s going to happen.”
Later, in a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump specified the new timeframe:
“I’m going to make a new deadline of about … 10 or 12 days from today,” Trump said. “There’s no reason in waiting… We just don’t see any progress being made.”
On July 14, Trump had initially given Putin 50 days to reach a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine, threatening to impose 100% tariffs on Russian imports if no deal was made. Since then, another round of talks between Russian and Ukrainian officials took place on July 23 in Istanbul — but no agreement was reached.
