U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 15, 2025, in the state of Alaska, Orda.kz reports.

The U.S. does not recognize the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, which previously issued an arrest warrant for the Russian leader.

The Kremlin has confirmed the talks. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov explained that Alaska was chosen due to its geographical proximity to Russia and shared economic interests in the region, including the Arctic.

Moscow expects the next meeting between the leaders to take place in Russia and has already extended an invitation to Trump. According to Ushakov, the agenda may include prospects for joint projects and discussions on global and regional security issues.

This will be Putin’s first visit to the U.S. since attending the UN General Assembly in 2015 — and the first-ever visit by a Russian president to Alaska.

At the same time, Axios reported on Aug. 8, citing three informed sources, that senior officials from Ukraine, the U.S., and Europe will meet in the U.K. ahead of U.S. President Donald Trump’s planned summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin next week.
