Trump and Putin to Meet at Alaska Military Base — CNN

U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold their upcoming Friday meeting at Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson in Anchorage, CNN reports, citing White House sources.
Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city with a population of about 300,000, was chosen as the optimal location for the U.S.–Russia summit. According to CNN, the military base was selected for security and logistical reasons.
The talks, set for August 15, are intended to discuss a peaceful resolution to the war in Ukraine, but will take place without Ukrainian representatives — a decision that has prompted concern from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and several European leaders.
Trump will reportedly hold a call with them all before his meeting with Putin.
Earlier, The Telegraph reported that Zelenskyy might be prepared to consider territorial concessions to Russia, but the Ukrainian leader has since denied this.
