Trucks Continue to Queue at Kazakhstan-Russia Border

Residents and drivers crossing the border continue to experience difficulties and express dissatisfaction with long queues and the lack of necessities, reports an Orda.kz correspondent.
The problem at this checkpoint has been going on for several days and seems to be worsening.
It's just unbearable! I stood in line for over five hours. No organization, and absolutely no care for people. We can't even rest properly or go to the restroom. It feels like we've been left on our own. Horrible chaos at the border, says Atyrau resident Asel Tuyakpaeva.
Drivers claim the situation is aggravated by a new system of paid electronic passes only valid for 24 hours. They say they must pay again if they fail to cross the border on time.
We reported on the situation at the border two days ago.
The Atyrau Region Department of State Revenues responded that the increased number of vehicles traveling along the Atyrau-Astrakhan highway caused congestion at the Kurmangazy automobile checkpoint.
