Truckers Face Multi-Day Queues at Nur Joly

Drivers have reached out to the Orda.kz newsroom with complaints about long delays at the Nur Joly customs checkpoint.
They report that perishable goods are being sent for manual inspection despite cold weather.
Trucks carrying fruit for Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have been stuck at the border for several days,
drivers said, noting that the delays lead to product spoilage and increased fuel consumption, since refrigeration units cannot be switched off.
Fuel supplies for many trucks are also running low.
Long lines have formed: one queue stretches from the village of Atameken to the border, and another — starting near Sholakay — extends for nearly 50 kilometers.
Drivers say the electronic queue system is not functioning properly, reservations are not being honored, and they are not being given clear explanations. Many are spending the night in their cabs.
Earlier, the State Revenue Committee explained:
At Nur Joly, about 1,500 trucks have temporarily accumulated due to reduced capacity on the Chinese side. China has been accepting only 700–750 trucks per day instead of the agreed 1,000. The situation worsened due to installation work at the Kalzhat–Dulaty checkpoint, which caused some traffic to be rerouted through Nur Joly.
Despite this, drivers say the situation at the border remains unresolved.
Many have already spent five days waiting in cold conditions while their goods deteriorate.
