Transport Minister Marat Karabayev outlined plans to save budget funds during a government meeting, reports Orda.kz.
The Minister noted that the current task is to conduct medium repairs on 10,000 km of roads, Orda reports.
Last year, work began on five thousand kilometers.
This year, medium repairs will be carried out on the remaining four thousand kilometers and on new 2.6 km. The total volume of average annual repairs will be 6.6 km. This method will reduce project implementation times by three times and decrease costs by seven times, said Marat Karabayev.
The Minister did not specify how the savings would be achieved.
However, he revealed that significant repair work would be conducted in North Kazakhstan (1,358 km), Aqmola (1,262 km), and Abay (1,015 km) regions.
The Transport Minister also said that roads that haven't been repaired for 30 to 50 years, such as Petropavlovsk — Jezkazgan (703 km), Qandyagash — Shalqar (246 km), Janaozen — Turkmenistan border (156 km), and Qaraganda — Ayagoz — Bugaz (452 km) would be completely repaired.
At the end of January, the Committee of Automobile Roads announced that the toll for BAKAD would be doubled.
