Eco-activists in the Zhetysu region have shown mountains of garbage near one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations, Orda.kz reports.
The footage shows rubbish along the roads, areas strewn with waste and a complete lack of basic infrastructure. According to the activists, the Altyn-Emel mountain pass, which lies on the road to the national park of the same name, has cafes and many tourists, but lacks even the most basic facilities — bins, toilets and equipped springs.
But there is garbage. A lot of garbage. This is not just a matter of culture — it is a violation of the law. the authors of the post said, referring to articles of the Administrative Code that provide for liability for pollution and violations of improvement rules.
They also said there is no real control on the ground.
The video triggered a strong reaction from users. The authorities also responded to the publication. The akimat of Kerbulak district said the owners of a roadside cafe on the pass, which belongs to the Basshi rural district, had already been warned. The area was to be cleared on April 13 with the help of special equipment.
The Zhetysu regional police department added that two local residents had been punished for violating improvement rules and polluting public areas.
