Transnistria's industrial sector has come to a standstill due to a severe energy crisis, according to Sergey Obolonik, Orda reports, citing Tiraspol-news.
Obolonik serves as Economic Development Minister in the self-proclaimed Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
Only food production facilities remain operational, while all other industrial enterprises have ceased operations.
The crisis is so severe that there is no need to list which enterprises have stopped. All industrial enterprises are idle, with the exception of those engaged in food production the Minister said.
Yesterday, Gazprom ended gas supplies via Ukraine, though the company maintains that debts are the reason for the halt of supplies to Moldova. Transnistria is a breakaway territory internationally recognized as Moldovan.
