Toqayev Signs Law on Military Service and Defense Policy

President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev has signed a new law introducing broad changes to Kazakhstan’s defense and military systems, Orda.kz reports.
The reforms affect conscription, military ranks, defense procurement, and youth preparation for service. Amendments were made to multiple laws, including the Labor Code, the laws on education, defense, military service, and the defense industry.
Key measures include:
- Strengthening military-patriotic education
- Expanding training and retraining for reservists
- Reforming military registration and rank assignment
- Improving conscription systems and boosting prestige
- Streamlining the defense procurement process
The law takes effect upon official publication.
