Toqayev Reviews Supreme Audit Chamber’s Work, 2026 Priorities

President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev met with Alikhan Smailov, Chair of the Supreme Audit Chamber, to review the agency’s work over the past nine months and discuss plans for 2026, Orda.kz reports, citing Aqorda.
Over this period, auditors conducted 18 large-scale inspections, covering 32 trillion tenge in budget funds — 1.5 times more than last year. As a result, 112 billion tenge were recovered for the state. The agency also issued 96 recommendations and around 800 mandatory orders, forwarding 42 reports to law enforcement.
For 2026, the Audit Chamber plans about 40 new inspections, including audits of support programs for domestic pharmaceutical producers, road development, and the operations of Kazakhtelecom, Kazpost, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Smailov also noted that a new digital system has been launched to automate all audit processes.
Earlier, the Supreme Audit Chamber’s review of veterinary, phytosanitary, and food safety oversight resulted in penalties for 28 officials, including employees of the Ministry of Agriculture and several research institutes.
