President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev has instructed the government to strengthen oversight of illegal migration and fully integrate national migration databases, Orda.kz reports.
The remarks came during a Security Council meeting focused on internal and external migration.
Deputy Prime Minister Yermek Kosherbayev and the heads of several ministries — including Internal Affairs, Digital Development, and Labor — delivered reports.
The main focus of the meeting was on the need to adapt migration policy to current geopolitical realities, demographic forecasts and social motives for population movement. According to the President, it is important not only to ensure control over the prevention of illegal migration, but also to create conditions for the growth of human capital within the country,
Aqorda’s press service stated.
Toqayev emphasized the need to reassess the roles of agencies managing migration and ensure full integration of digital systems across departments.
He also called for updated tracking methods and better coordination to improve the efficiency of migration management tools.
