President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev inaugurated a Kazakh cultural center in Beijing as part of his state visit to China, Orda.kz reports.
After a series of meetings with major business leaders, Toqayev took part in the opening ceremony of the center, which is designed to showcase Kazakhstan’s history and heritage.

The president toured exhibition halls, a library, and classrooms dedicated to the Kazakh language, music, and arts. The collection includes artifacts spanning from the ancient Saka period to the early 20th century. The exhibition is divided into five sections: archaeology, jewelry, weaponry, music, and ethnography.
The library holds around 1,000 books in Kazakh, Chinese, English, and Russian. During the ceremony, Chinese schoolchildren performed for Toqayev on the dombra.

The idea of opening a cultural center in Beijing had been discussed for several years. Toqayev and Chinese President Xi Jinping first raised the project in 2022.
In the winter of 2024, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Culture Aida Balayeva met with her Chinese counterpart Sun Yeli to work out the details.
