President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev delivered a speech at the opening of the CICA (Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia) headquarters in Astana on July 2, marking the Day of the Diplomatic Service, Orda.kz reports, citing Aqorda.
During the event, Toqayev also met with current and former members of Kazakhstan’s diplomatic corps.
Our ancestors long adhered to the principles of ‘steppe diplomacy.’ Thanks to the Kazakh people's ability to engage in open and friendly dialogue, a unique model of peaceful coexistence developed in the Great Steppe. Respect and mutual understanding have always been the key values. These principles remain the enduring foundation and guiding direction of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy,Toqayev said in his address.
At the same time, the President acknowledged rising global tensions.
The world is facing extremely complex and unprecedented challenges that require serious reflection and deep understanding. We are witnessing a gradual erosion of the very foundations of international law — where force is increasingly placed above legal principles. In such circumstances, it is essential that all nations strictly adhere to international law and the UN Charter, without resorting to biased interpretations, Toqayev stressed.
