Toqayev Meets with New Energy Minister Akkenzhenov for the First Time Since Appointment

President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev held his first meeting with Yerlan Akkenzhenov following his recent appointment as Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy, Orda.kz reports, citing Aqorda.
Akkenzhenov assumed the role in March 2025, succeeding Almasadam Satkaliyev. Prior to this, he served as Vice Minister of Energy.
Key topics discussed at the meeting included the planned processing of 17.6 million tons of oil in 2025 and the development of a long-term strategy for the oil refining sector through 2040.
Major projects outlined during the meeting:
- Construction of new gas processing facilities at Kashagan, Karachaganak, and Janaozen
- Implementation of the second phase of the Beineu – Bozoy – Shymkent gas pipeline
- Construction of the Taldykorgan–Usharal gas pipeline
President Toqayev instructed Akkenzhenov to ensure the country’s energy security, improve the investment climate, and attract investors to geological exploration.
