President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev met with Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), to discuss current and future areas of cooperation, Orda.kz reports.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the global economic situation and highlighted progress achieved through their longstanding partnership, particularly in the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, the energy sector, and agriculture.
Toqayev expressed support for the EBRD’s continued investment plans in Kazakhstan, including projects tied to the green transition.
Odile Renaud-Basso commended Kazakhstan’s investment climate and reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting the country’s development. She noted that the EBRD had recently approved funding for the reconstruction of the 234-kilometer Aqtobe–Ulgaysyn highway, a key route for domestic and international transport.
According to Renaud-Basso, cooperation with Kazakhstan is advancing steadily.
Last year, the EBRD invested nearly €1 billion in the country, and that amount has tripled in 2024. The bank plans to maintain its involvement in sectors such as transport and energy.
