Toqayev Meets EBRD President, Discusses Green Investment and Banking Sector Support

Qasym-Jomart Toqayev met with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso, to discuss cooperation across key sectors of the economy, Orda.kz reports, citing Aqorda.
In 2024, the Government of Kazakhstan and the EBRD agreed to finance 25 projects totaling $935 million jointly.
Renaud-Basso also updated Toqayev on the progress of the green transition initiative, which the bank plans to support with €2 billion in investments.
The President of Kazakhstan appreciated the EBRD’s assistance in developing the country’s banking sector. The two also exchanged views on global trends in the financial industry.
According to the “Board No. 1” Telegram channel, Toqayev and Renaud-Basso agreed to meet again in Astana this June.
While in Samarqand, Toqayev also held talks with EU leaders Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa.
