At a meeting with oil and gas industry workers at Aqorda, President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev discussed projects Kazakhstan is implementing with Chinese partners, Orda.kz reports.
The president recalled that during his recent visit to China, several bilateral agreements were signed.
Following the latest Kazakh-Chinese Business Council meeting, more than 70 commercial documents worth a total of $15 billion were concluded. He singled out several major oil and gas projects with Chinese investors.
New strategic projects are planned. Among them, I would like to highlight the agreement on the construction of a gas chemical complex for the production of urea in the Aqtobe region with CNPC for more than one billion dollars. The agreement reached with the China Development Bank on financing the construction of trunk pipelines for the transportation of ethane and propane in the Atyrau region for about 530 million dollars is important, said Toqayev.
He added that Kazakhstan is developing investment cooperation in the oil and gas sector not only with Chinese companies, but also with partners from the United States, Russia, and the European Union.
In June, China’s CNOOC received a contract for exploration and production at the Jylyoi site in the Atyrau region.
