Qasym-Jomart Toqayev has congratulated Donald Trump on the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the end of hostilities in the Gaza Strip, Orda.kz reports.
According to Aqorda, the Kazakh president sent his congratulations to his American counterpart on what he described as a “remarkable diplomatic victory.”
Toqayev called the establishment of peace in the Gaza Strip a long-awaited achievement.
Qasym-Jomart Toqayev believes that the U.S. President has fully demonstrated strong political will and a sincere desire to establish peace and harmony among nations,Aqorda said in its statement.
The latest conflict between Palestine and Israel began after Hamas militants, who control the Gaza Strip, attacked Israeli border settlements on October 7, 2023, killing more than 1,200 people and taking over 250 hostages. The attack prompted Israeli retaliation and a series of military operations, during which several Hamas leaders were killed.
On October 10, Israel and Hamas reached a ceasefire agreement, brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Under the terms of the peace deal, both sides agreed to release hostages and prisoners, while Israel would withdraw its troops and allow humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
