Toqayev Congratulates Aliyev on Signing of Armenia–Azerbaijan Peace Declaration

Kazakh President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev held a phone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Orda.kz reports.
Toqayev warmly congratulated his counterpart on the signing in Washington of the historic declaration on the peaceful settlement of the Armenia–Azerbaijan conflict, reached with the active mediation of the U.S. president.
He stressed that the document aligns with international law and UN resolutions, serves the strategic interests of both countries, and will help strengthen international cooperation in the Caucasus. Toqayev also reaffirmed Astana’s readiness to continue offering its platform for negotiations and noted Azerbaijan’s increased international standing under Aliyev’s leadership.
Aliyev thanked Toqayev for his congratulations, calling the declaration historic in the context of years of fruitless negotiations, and expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Kazakhstan. The two leaders agreed to maintain high-level contacts.
According to the Aqorda, Toqayev is scheduled to hold a phone call with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday, August 11.
Earlier, Toqayev spoke by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at Kyiv’s initiative.
