On 9 March 2025, Qasym-Jomart Toqayev held a meeting with Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, National Bank Chair Timur Suleimenov, and other key officials to discuss the current economic challenges.
The conversation focused on the global drop in prices for energy resources and essential goods, driven by tariff conflicts, Orda.kz reports, citing Aqorda.
The President directed that the government and local executive bodies finalize their joint action plan as quickly as possible. The goal is to mitigate the effects of the financial and economic crisis, maintain growth momentum, and protect the inflow of investments.
Despite the challenging global conditions, Toqayev reaffirmed its commitment to long-term economic priorities.
These include major infrastructure initiatives, digitalisation and artificial intelligence development, agricultural modernisation, and enhancements to the transport and logistics sectors.
The Head of State is scheduled to lead a meeting next week on this matter.
