President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev has invited citizens to submit ideas for naming Kazakhstan’s first nuclear power plant, Orda.kz reports.
Toqayev described the facility’s construction as strategically important and “a symbol of scientific and technological progress.” The project is being developed in cooperation with Rosatom.
The head of state noted that the plant does not yet have a name and proposed a nationwide competition to choose one. He announced during a meeting with schoolchildren who had won or placed in international academic Olympiads.
“I ask you to participate and be creative, maybe one of your suggestions will be useful when we make a decision,” he said.
Toqayev also underlined the need for highly qualified personnel to drive energy development and the adoption of advanced technologies. He highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence specialists and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to supporting talented youth through programs such as Bolashaq and new initiatives for Olympiad winners.
Addressing the younger generation, he added:
“You glorify our people throughout the world as a nation of intellectuals. Boldly follow the path of search and work. The upcoming generation looks up to you.”
