Toqayev Briefed on Work of New Cassation Courts

President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev received Supreme Court Chair Aslambek Mergaliyev, who reported on recent developments in the judiciary, Orda.kz reports.
Since July 1, 2025, complaints against decisions of the first and second instances have been considered in cassation courts. Previously, these cases were handled in the Supreme Court, but under a different approach.
Now the system functions on the principle of continuous cassation.
According to Mergaliyev, in the first month of their operation, the three cassation courts across the country began reviewing about five thousand complaints. Overall, in the first seven months of 2025, more than 2,500 acts of administrative bodies and officials were declared unlawful.
The Supreme Court chair also noted the growing use of alternative dispute resolution in civil cases. Since January, the number of disputes resolved through mediation, negotiations, and settlements has increased by 24 percent.
Toqayev emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to strengthen public trust in the judicial system.
