Toqayev Awards National Honors to Surgeon Serik Tokpanov and Statesman Ravil Cherdabayev

On the afternoon of May 26, a state award ceremony was held at Aqorda, where President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev presented high national honors, Orda.kz reports.
The Order of Barys, 1st degree, was awarded to renowned surgeon Serik Tokpanov for his outstanding contributions to medicine.
The Order of Otan was awarded to Ravil Cherdabayev, a figure with a distinguished public service record.
Cherdabayev was the first director of Tengizchevroil, heading the joint oil venture in 1993–1994. He briefly served as Minister of Oil and Gas Industry in 1994, and from 1994 to 1999, he held the post of Akim of Atyrau Region. He later served as Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Ukraine and Moldova (1999–2003), and from 2004 to 2007, was a member of the Majilis.
