A large-scale military parade dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II has been held in Beijing, Orda.kz reports, citing Aqorda.
Kazakhstan’s president is attending the event as an honored guest. In total, more than 26 heads of state are present, including the leaders of North Korea, Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and others.
“Humanity once again faces a choice: peace or war, dialogue or confrontation,” Chinese President Xi Jinping said in his address.
Just days earlier, on September 1, the Chinese city of Tianjin hosted leaders from 10 SCO member states, representatives of more than 20 countries in total, and heads of international organizations.
The Tianjin summit marked the 25th meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and, for the first time, was held on such a scale. Over the weekend, official news agencies across several countries had already begun reporting on the high-profile visits, with particular focus on meetings with Xi Jinping.
