Muratkhan Tokmadi, sentenced to ten and a half years for the killing of banker Yerzhan Tatishev, has once again appealed to the court with a petition to reduce his prison term, Orda.kz reports.
On September 11, 2024, the panel of judges of the Ulytau regional court previously rejected a similar request from Tokmadi. At that time, he asked that his time spent in a pre-trial detention facility be counted toward his sentence.
The court denied the request.
This time, Tokmadi filed a petition with the Alatau City Court in the Almaty Region. The claim was submitted at the end of April 2025.
According to the affected party, they were notified of the upcoming court hearing only one day in advance — June 9 at 18:30. The hearing itself is scheduled for June 11 at 11:00.
The court notifies the affected party of this one day before the court hearing, without giving the affected party the opportunity to prepare for the court hearing, prepare objections and fully protect their rights. A motion to postpone the hearing has been sent to the court to give the affected party the opportunity to prepare and express their position in full,
reported the lawyer for the injured party, Amanzhol Mukhamedyarov.
