Terrorism Promoters Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison After Security Service Investigation

Two Kazakhstani citizens have been handed lengthy prison sentences following investigations by the National Security Committee into terrorism-related activities, Orda.kz reports.
In the first case, a man from Taraz was sentenced to seven years in prison for attempting to recruit others for foreign military operations and planning to join terrorist groups himself.
The court found him guilty of promoting terrorism and inciting religious hatred.
The second case involved an Almaty resident with a previous criminal record who received a seven-year and one-month sentence for spreading radical ideology online and illegal drug use.
84 individuals were convicted of terrorist and extremist activities in 2024.
