On June 19, scheduled power outages began in Almaty’s Almaly district due to a network overload and a malfunction on a cable line, Orda.kz reports.
According to JSC Alatau Jaryq Kompaniyasy, the issue was caused by damage to underground cables discovered the previous day, along with a surge in electricity consumption due to high air temperatures.
The incident affected the square bordered by Gogol, Seifullin, Shevchenko, and Sharipov streets, where transformer substations will now be switched off one by one from 10:00 to 23:00, the company said.
Power will be cut to each area for three hours at a time, after which the load will be shifted to other neighborhoods. This step, utility services explain, is necessary to prevent further damage to the system.
The company apologized for the inconvenience and urged residents to remain understanding.
