Telegram has officially joined Kazakhstan’s innovation ecosystem by registering with Astana Hub, Orda.kz reports, citing the International Center for Information Technologies and Awareness-Raising.
According to the Ministry of Digital Development, Pavel Durov’s company became part of the Astana Hub community on June 27.
Joining the Astana Hub ecosystem opens up new opportunities for Telegram for joint projects, exchange of experience and development of digital products both in the domestic and global markets. The platform consistently follows the principles of digital security: registration does not require entering personal data, the source code is open, and encryption protocols are available for audit, the Ministry noted.
Telegram is owned by Pavel Durov, who holds citizenship in Russia, France, the UAE, and Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Earlier in June, the Latvian outlet Important Stories published an investigation into Telegram’s alleged connections to Russian intelligence.
Telegram’s press service denied the claims, saying the report was inaccurate.
