Telegram has blocked the VChK-OGPU channel, accusing it of “doxing and extortion,” the platform’s administration announced. No further details were provided, Orda.kz reports, citing Novaya Gazeta.
All mirrored posts in the backup channel have also disappeared. Before the block, the channel had more than 350,000 subscribers.
VChK-OGPU, known for publishing compromising materials on officials and security figures, had previously vanished from Telegram in April 2025, when it was deleted “without warning,” according to its creators. Telegram denied involvement at the time.
When the earlier channel was removed, it had over one million followers. Soon after, its handle was taken over by Vladislav Pozdnyakov, founder of the banned “Male State” movement.
In July 2024, Russia’s Justice Ministry labeled VChK-OGPU a foreign agent, naming journalists Alexander Shvarev and Alisher Abdullaev as its authors. Shvarev, a former Rosbalt reporter, has since been granted political asylum in Latvia.
