On 21 April 2025, President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, Chair of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, toured the Ethnoaul cultural complex located within the Azret-Sultan reserve in Turkistan, as reported by Orda.kz, citing Aqorda.
The two leaders visited a traditional eastern bazaar showcasing various grains, national dishes, and viewed the works of artisans in woodworking, weaving, felting, ceramics, and jewelry. The program also featured a theatrical performance that reflected Kazakh customs and traditions.

Berdimuhamedow was also shown the skills of Tazy dogs and hunting birds. Toqayev highlighted that the Tazy breed has now received international recognition.
The leaders then visited the Turkistan Visit Centre, where they were briefed on the restoration and development of the ancient Kultobe settlement. Excavations covering 27 hectares have already been completed.

They were also shown plans for the upcoming Craftsmen's Centre, which will include artisan workshops, national cuisine venues, an oriental bazaar, and hotels.
As of March 25, the World Craft Council officially recognized Turkistan as a "City of Craftsmen."
Toqayev and Berdimuhamedow are expected to hold an informal meeting to discuss the further development of Kazakh-Turkmen relations.
