Five entrepreneurs in the Jambyl region were found to have illegally taken over buildings near the historic Aisha Bibi mausoleum, Orda.kz reports.
The mausoleum owns a two-hectare plot, which includes several technical buildings. According to the Monuments of Ancient Taraz Reserve-Museum, which oversees the site, the structures were unlawfully occupied and used for commercial purposes.
In response, the museum filed a lawsuit demanding the return of the premises.
The defendants had no permits for conducting trade, nor any legal rights or documentation allowing them to use the premises for business activities. The plaintiff also highlighted that commercial activity is prohibited on the territory of the Historical and Cultural Reserve Museum. Only four of the five entrepreneurs admitted to the claim, explaining that the buildings had been constructed back in 2010 by another businessman, who later transferred it to them free of charge.the Supreme Court’s press service stated.
The court ultimately ruled in favor of the museum, confirming that the premises legally belonged to the reserve and ordering the business owners to vacate. An appeal to the Jambyl Regional Court was unsuccessful — the original decision was upheld.
The Monuments of Ancient Taraz Reserve Museum, overseen by the Ministry of Culture and Information, manages numerous historical landmarks across the Jambyl region, including the Babaji Khatun Mausoleum, Karakhanid monuments, and the ancient ruins of Taraz.
