Tajikistan and Russia Strengthen Cooperation with New Agreements

On 17 March 2025, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Russian President Vladimir Putin met to discuss expanding cooperation in various sectors, Orda.kz reports, citing the official website of the President of Tajikistan.
The meeting, which began one-on-one before continuing with delegations, focused on economic collaboration in industry, energy, and agriculture. Security cooperation and intelligence-sharing were also key topics, with both leaders emphasizing the need for joint efforts to combat emerging threats.
The Presidents highlighted humanitarian ties, noting that 71 schools in Tajikistan teach in Russian and that the country hosts three branches of Russian universities.
They agreed to hold Tajikistan Culture Days in Russia in June 2025 as part of cultural collaboration.

- Memorandum on financial literacy initiatives
- Memorandum on IT and digital technology cooperation
- Regional Collaboration
- Agreement on cooperation between Tajikistan’s Khatlon Region and Russia’s Kirov Region
Following the bilateral talks, Rahmon and Putin issued statements to the media, reaffirming their commitment to deepening economic, security, and cultural ties.
