Afghan media report that a “high-level Tajik delegation” that arrived in Kabul several days ago has met with Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, Orda.kz reports.

According to the reports, the delegation is also expected to hold meetings with Taliban Prime Minister Mohammad Hassan Akhund and the head of the movement’s intelligence service, Abdulhaq Wasiq.

Tolo News states that the talks between the Tajik representatives and Amir Khan Muttaqi focused on “political issues, relations between Kabul and Dushanbe, and improving trade between the two countries.”

The media, citing unnamed sources, has also claimed that on the first day of the delegation’s visit, discussions about an Afghan embassy in Dushanbe would be among the key topics.

The Amu TV channel notes that the delegation consists of 14 officials, including representatives of security and intelligence agencies, as well as staff from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government bodies.

Afghan media say the purpose of the visit is to discuss security cooperation with Taliban representatives.

Tajikistan’s government has not commented on the delegation’s trip to Kabul, according to AsiaPlus.
