Supreme Audit Chamber Reports 355 Billion Tenge in Budget Violations in First Quarter of 2025

In the first three months of 2025, Kazakhstan’s Supreme Audit Chamber identified violations totaling 355 billion tenge, including inefficient use of public funds, financial misconduct, and poor planning, Orda.kz reports.
According to the agency, 24 entities were inspected in the first quarter, covering public procurement and other state financial activities amounting to 5.9 trillion tenge.
The audit revealed:
- 287.6 billion tenge was spent inefficiently by government agencies
- 64.6 billion tenge was lost due to poor planning
- 3.3 billion tenge in direct financial violations by officials
Despite the scale of the violations, only 3.3 billion tenge is considered recoverable, less than one percent of the total. To date, just 1 billion tenge has been returned to the budget.
The Supreme Audit Chamber plans to carry out around 30 audits this year. Based on its first-quarter findings, the agency issued 32 recommendations to the government aimed at improving budget efficiency.
