A landmark meeting between KTZ Chief Nurlan Sauranbayev and Xi'an Party Committee Secretary Fan Hongwei highlighted unprecedented growth in transcontinental rail shipping, Orda reports.
The Xi'an dry port has emerged as a crucial hub, processing a quarter of all China-Europe rail traffic with over 5,000 trains dispatched in 2024.
The collaboration has yielded remarkable results on the Trans-Caspian route, with cargo volumes surging 33-fold in the past year. Building on this success, the partnership is advancing several international logistics projects backed by $200 million in investments.
The expansion blueprint includes multiple new facilities slated for 2026: a logistics complex in Almaty (GTS-2), the CRK Terminal at Moscow's Selyatino station, and an Azerbaijani terminal at Alyat port.
Additional hubs are planned for Svisloch, Belarus, and Budapest, Hungary.
This coordinated development aims to establish a comprehensive terminal network along the East-West corridor, strengthening a strategic alliance that has already transformed regional logistics chains.
The initiative promises to enhance transport connectivity between Kazakhstan, China, and European markets.
