Starlink in Prison: Interior Ministry Investigating Pavlodar Incident

A prisoner in the Pavlodar region managed to install Starlink satellite internet, prompting a criminal investigation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed, Orda.kz reports.
This is, of course, an outrageous incident. An investigation is underway. The responsible employees have already faced strict disciplinary action,said Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and head of the Criminal Executive System Committee, Abay Kaiyrbekov.
Not only were the colony’s top officials punished, but staff members who allowed the satellite system to be set up were also held accountable.
The heads of the facility and relevant departments have been dismissed. The officials responsible were fired from the internal affairs system due to misconduct. The deputy head of the facility was dismissed, as were the operations and security officers who were tasked with maintaining order in the institution,Kaiyrbekov said.
He did not specify who exactly gave the green light to install the Starlink equipment inside the prison, noting that the investigation is still ongoing.
