Singer Elizaveta Gyrdymova, known as Monetochka, has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, Orda.kz reports.
Rapper Noize MC (Ivan Alekseev) was included in the application as well.
Journalist Vladimir Raevsky reported this on his Instagram.
In the video, OsloMet University professor Arnfinn Vonen says his colleagues nominated Monetochka and Noize MC for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The most important thing is that with their voices they represent a new generation that is very strongly in favour of humanistic values,
said Arnfinn Vonen.
Noize MC and Monetochka have been speaking out against the war since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
They have not lived in the Russian Federation since 2022, and the Russian authorities have recognized them as foreign agents.
This fall, Monetochka planned to perform in Kazakhstan, but in September, she announced a cancellation.
A criminal case was opened against her in Russia, and she was concerned over this.
I dreamed of going to Kazakhstan for a concert. We already had the date and the venue ready. Now we have to cancel it. Because if I come, as they explained to me, they will have to send me to prison in Russia,Gyrdymova told Dozhd TV.
Noize MC's last concert in Kazakhstan was in April 2023.
