Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan said it’s time to start preparing for official visits between Armenian and Azerbaijani delegations, signaling a new phase in dialogue between the two countries, Orda.kz reports, citing NewsArmenia.AM.
There are, of course, issues that still need to be addressed — most importantly, the situation with our prisoners of war, which remains a serious concern. But communication will continue, and we intend to strengthen it. When I say ‘we,’ I mean that the Azerbaijani side also shares this position. The ice has broken, Simonyan said.
He also commented on Azerbaijan’s absence from the 12th plenary session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, and on President Ilham Aliyev’s decision not to attend the European Political Community summit scheduled in Armenia in May 2026, noting that a peace treaty between the two sides has yet to be signed.
