In Shymkent, 26-year-old Diana Ongarbayeva's body was found stuffed into a plastic bag. She had been missing since July 21, but relatives say police began searching only a week later. Her remains were accidentally discovered by cleaners, Orda.kz reports.
Wrapped in plastic and sealed with tape, the body was already decomposing when found. Her mother could not recognize her.
She had two deep cuts on her throat, and her larynx was stuffed with a car-cleaning rag. There were 24 stab wounds on her body. She wasn’t just killed — she was brutally tortured, then wrapped in a bag, taped, and thrown in a trash container. She was found only on the tenth day,
said her sister, Aliya Akbarova.
According to the family, Diana had been lured to clean an apartment by someone posing as a client on social media. At the address, she was met by a teenager — later identified as the suspect.
It turned out to be a trap. The guy said his mom would pay him, asked her to wait, and when Diana called the mom from his phone, he managed to stab her,
said another sister, Aidana Ongarbayeva.
Relatives say they reported her disappearance on July 21, but police did not file it.
I went to the police from July 21 to 28. Nothing. They didn’t put her on the missing persons list or register a report. They said my son-in-law didn’t file a complaint. They only took the statement on the 28th and promised: ‘Don’t worry, we’ll find her in two days. She’s alive.’ Where is she alive?..
said her mother, Karlygash Ongarbayeva.
Police say the suspect — a minor — has been arrested and placed in pre-trial detention.
A criminal case has been opened into the murder of a 26-year-old resident of Shymkent. The suspect has been identified and detained. A comprehensive investigation is underway,
said Deputy Head of the Shymkent Criminal Police Department, Nurzhan Myrzageldiev.
The family believes others may be involved, pointing to two unknown men who allegedly tried to pawn Diana’s phone after the killing.
Diana leaves behind her husband and two daughters, aged two and four. The family had come to Shymkent to earn a living.
