In Shymkent, a woman is in serious condition following an attack by her ex-husband, according to lawyer Zhanna Urazbakhova, Orda.kz reports.
Urazbakhova shared details on Instagram.
The 33-year-old mother of four survived the incident but sustained severe injuries, including spinal cord damage that could result in long-term disability.
Her sister, Manshuk Bubeyeva, said the case initially saw little progress. She claims the man not only assaulted her sister but also stabbed her and issued threats to their entire family.
Initially, I thought I could handle it myself. But the case didn't move forward until I hired a lawyer. Only after that was he put on the wanted list and found, but he slit his wrists. He doesn't admit his guilt, saying: 'Yes, I beat her, but I didn't slash her with a knife, she fell herself.' He threatened her, wrote SMS that he would kill her. My parents also received a call from him threatening that he would kill them. Mom called 102, wrote a statement, they took it, and did nothing. Due to the negligence of the staff, this happened now. Thank God he wasnt able harm my parents,
Manshuk wrote on social media.
In addition to the physical assault, the suspect reportedly took the victim’s bank cards, documents, and personal belongings.
Police confirmed that a criminal case has been opened for attempted homicide.
The suspect was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. Investigative measures are currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the incident. The criminal case is under the control of the department's management,
police told Orda.kz in response to an inquiry.
